Scarlett Johansson and co actor Adam Driver are set to receive the performers of the year award during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on January 17, 2020.
The pair will be celebrated in a ceremony at the Arlington Theater because of their superb work in the movie “Marriage Story” by Noah Baumbach.
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival is a major sensation that filmmakers watch out for during awards season. This year is the 35th year of the award giving body, which will be celebrated on January 15-25.
“Scarlett and Adam have had such admirable arcs to their careers -making smart choices between independent films and big Hollywood franchises. They both are such lyrical performers, imbuing their acting with keen sensitivity and intellect,” Santa Barbara International Film Fest director Roger Durling said.
“Together in Baumbach’s ‘Marriage Story,’ they regaled us with their best work to date,” Durling continued.
The awards ceremony will also be honoring Renee Zellweger and Martin Scorsese, as per The Wrap.
Accordingly, the Outstanding Performers of the Year sheds light to actors who have distinguished themselves in giving exceptional performances during the past year.
Last year’s awardee was Rami Malek, for his performance in “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Aside from Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, movie duos such as Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling for “La La Land” and Margot Robbie and Allison Janney for “I, Tonya” have also been given the award.
