Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz’ daughter, Zoe Kravitz will play the role of Batman’s nemesis and love interest, Catwoman.
The 30 year old star landed the role of Selina Kyle and her alter ego, Catwoman, together with Robert Pattinson as Batman. The movie will be directed by Matt Reeves, who also worked on ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ and ‘Cloverfield.’
According to The Guardian, Zoe Kravitz went through a grueling screening process that had her competing against Ella Balinska, Eiza Gonzalez and Ana de Armas. Kravitz bagged the part after doing a screen test last week with Robert Pattinson.
As much as the ‘Big Little Lies’ star is lauded in grabbing the part, she was not lucky enough to bag the role as Catwoman on the Christopher Nolan movie ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ way back 2012.
In a 2015 Nylon interview, Zoe Kravitz was reportedly prevented to audition because she was too ‘urban.’
“In the last ‘Batman’ movie, they told me that I couldn’t get an audition for a small role they were casting because they weren’t going “urban,” Kravitz said. “It was like, ‘What does that have to do with anything?’ I have to play the role like, ‘Yo, what’s up, Batman? What’s going on wit chu?'”
Zoe Kravitz is now in the level of the esteemed actresses that have played the role of the feline thief, including Halle Berry, Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar, Michelle Pfeiffer and Anne Hathaway.
According to The Daily Mail, Kravitz also voiced the Catwoman in ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ in 2017.
